Pregnant or Breastfeeding? This Is Not the Time
When you are carrying a baby or nursing, your body and your little one need a wide range of foods every day, including some carbohydrates. Pregnancy is not the season for a strict cutting diet or for going into ketosis on purpose. Instead of chasing keto, focus on eating well and safely: eggs, beans, groundnuts, sukuma and other greens, fruits, and yes, some ugali or sweet potato for energy. Keep taking the folic acid and iron your clinic gives you. If your weight or blood sugar during pregnancy worries you, that is exactly the thing to raise at your antenatal (ANC) visit, where they can guide you properly. The same care applies while breastfeeding, since your milk supply needs steady nourishment. There is plenty of time to try keto later. Right now, feeding yourself and your baby fully matters far more than any diet trend.
Takeaway. Pregnancy and breastfeeding need balanced eating, not keto; save the diet for later and follow your ANC advice.
