Nutmeg (Kungumanga (also spelled kungumanga))
The hard seed kernel of Myristica fragrans, grated or used whole in small amounts; in Kenyan kitchens it flavours pilau, chai, mahamri and spice blends. On keto it works well in fat-based baking (almond/coconut flour treats), whipped cream, coffee and creamy curries where a pinch adds warmth.
Traditionally used to ease digestive complaints such as bloating, gas and nausea, and commonly taken warm before bed as a folk aid for restlessness and poor sleep.
Used only by the pinch, so it adds essentially no usable carbs to a meal and pairs naturally with the fats and cream common on keto.
