Ketofiti

Ketofiti keto course, day 25, ketoflu

Why keto flu happens (and it passes)

In your first week of keto, many people feel tired, headachy, dizzy or a bit moody. This is nicknamed the "keto flu," but it is not a real flu and you are not sick. Here is what is really going on: when you cut ugali, bread, rice and sugar, your body holds less water, and it flushes out salts (electrolytes) faster through your urine. Lose too much sodium, potassium and magnesium and you feel weak. The good news is it usually clears in a few days once you replace those salts and drink enough water. So do not panic and do not quit on day three thinking keto is not for you. Push a little salt, water and greens, and most people feel sharp and full of energy within a week. If symptoms feel severe or you have a health condition, check with a doctor first.

Takeaway. Keto flu is just lost salt and water, not real illness, and it passes in days once you replace them.
